Nano – Tata’s Small Car

Tata’s much awaited Small Car will be called Nano. This car has evoked much news ever since Ratan Tata spoke of the Rs 1 Lakh idea. With a 30 Litre fuel tank & 4 speed gearshift, this is going to be the cheapest car in the world. The car is a 3 cylinder petrol engine with 33 bhp power. Though it is touted as Rs 1 lakh car, various duties might make it dearer. As per the company claims, it will have a milege of 22 kmpl in city & 26 kmpl in highway. With this mileage, it will give a tough competition to cars from Maruti. While on one end, Tata is looking at entering the mass market with cheap small cars, it is also bidding at Landrover & Jaguar, 2 premium car makers. Close on the heels of Tata’s small car Nano, Bajaj has also entered the small cheap car market with Bajaj Lite. Tata’s cars like Indica, Sumo is already a big brandname in India. With 2 cars, Nano & Lite, in the 1 lakh segment, competition will increase for other automakers to make entry into this segement.
